The district of Ahmednagar possesses tremendous variety in respect of population, language, culture, geography and livelihood. This district is almost a miniature of Maharashtra State in terms of the variation it contains. There are 8 Muncipalities, 1 Corporation in the district and  19.66 % population of the district live in Urban area, Besides, it is the most densely populated district being 17,316 Sq.Kms. These characteristics of the district have given it a unique status in Maharashtra State. In Administrative Set up We have 14 Tahsils, 8 Muncipalities, 1 Nagar Panchayat, 1 Corporation and 1 Cantonment Board. Ahmednagar has literacy percentage of 75.30% against the 77.27% for Maharashtra.

The Ahmednagar District divided in two Parliamentary Constituency and twelve Assembly Constituency viz 37 Ahmednagar Parliamentary Constituency including  1) 216 Akole (2) 217 Sangamner (3) 218 Shirdi (4) 219 Kopergaon (5) 220 Shrirampur and (6) 221 Newasa Assembly Constituency and 38 Shirdi Parliamentary Constituency including (1) 222 Shevgaon (2) 223 Rahuri (3) 224 Parner (4) 225 Ahmednagar City (5) 228 Shrigonda and (6) 227 Karjat-Jamkhed Assembly Constituency.
